LA POSTA VECCHIA HOTEL *****De Luxe

La Posta Vecchia Hotel is a trove of history by the Tyrrhenian Sea, just 30 minutes from Rome and Fiumicino airport. It has 19 rooms that balance the Baroque exuberance of a Fellini film with her renowned artful elegance, an indoor heated swimming pool, the LPV Health and Beauty Club and the gourmet restaurant The Cesar. The villa, which dates back to 1640, was built by the Orsini Princes and later sold to the Odescalchi family, who already owned the castle next to it. In 1960 it was purchased by Jean Paul Getty, who had the residence restored back to its original splendour, bringing in seventeenth-century furnishings, tapestries and paintings. During Getty’s restoration, a Roman villa dating back to the 2nd century BC was revealed. Ancient walls, colourful mosaics, African and Greek marble as well as an array of plate, amphorae and ampules were discovered. Today the guests have a private view of these valuable discoveries in La Posta Vecchia’s museum on the lower ground floor.
